SECOND TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY AT QATAR SAFETY SYMPOSIUM 

The 2nd “Texas A&M University at Qatar Safety Symposium” was held on 15th and 16th March 2011 at Texas A&M University at Qatar. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and presented under the auspices of His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Minister of State for Internal Affairs.

The event attracted more than 100 delegates, mainly representatives from local and international safety industry. 17 distinguished speakers from different key players in the field of safety including Regulatory Institutions, Industries and Academia from Qatar, the USA and the UK participated to discuss process safety. The program focused on many hot topics in the safety industry such as hazard identification, risk assessment, regulations, process safety management systems, emergency planning, lesson learning from major incidents and recent advances in process safety research.

Mr. Roland Moreau, Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSH&E) Manager for ExxonMobil’s Upstream Research Company in Houston (Texas, USA) and Vice President for ExxonMobil Research Qatar gave the plenary keynote lecture on the importance of effective management systems in addressing process safety..
