QPSS 2014
THEME: REACHING OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE BY ASSET INTEGRITY MANAGEMENT
The 5th Qatar Process Safety Symposium (QPSS) was held on 8th and 9th April 2014 at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).
The event attracted more than 220 delegates from Qatar and aboard. 28 international and local speakers from several different companies came together to discuss a range of topics on process safety. Perry Berkenpas, Vice President for Global Production Excellence, ConocoPhillips, USA delivered the plenary keynote lecture titled “Process Safety: Who is next?”.
At the conference, 23 undergraduate and graduate students from the TAMUQ Chemical Engineering Program presented 15 research posters to the industry. The symposium provided excellent networking opportunities for delegates from industry, regulatory institutions and academia.
During the 2014 QPSS event, Dr. Sam Mannan paid tribute to Dr. Trevor Kletz (1922-2013), a renowned academic in Process Safety and father of the concept of Inherent Safety and HAZOP.
