QPSS 2016

THEME: BUILDING COMPETENCY IN PROCESS SAFETY

The 7th Qatar Process Safety Symposium (QPSS) was held on 18th and 19th April 2016 at the Hilton Hotel, Doha, Qatar. The theme of 2016 QPSS Edition was “Building Competency in Process Safety”.

The event attracted more than 240 delegates from 37 registered companies from Qatar and aboard. 23 international and local speakers from several different companies came together to discuss crucial topics around the theme.

Michael Hatfield, Vice President, Health, Safety and Environment, ConocoPhillips gave the keynote lecture on the first day on Managing Process Safety Competency. Professor Paul Amyotte, professor of Chemical Engineering and C.D. Howe Chair in Process Safety Dalhousie University, Canada and Editor of the Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries gave the keynote speech on “Process Safety Concepts for the Prevention of Major Accidents” on the second day.

At the conference, undergraduate and graduate students from the TAMUQ Chemical Engineering Program 10 research posters to the industry. The symposium provided excellent networking opportunities for delegates from industry, regulatory institutions and academia.
